Healthcare for All

The Issue:

Healthcare for All

Background

Growing up in the San Fernando Valley, I experienced how families made the tough decision on whether to pay for food or medical expenses.

Take Action

“I believe there’s still a lot more work that needs to be done”

In 2010, President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). When the ACA became available in the San Fernando Valley, I immediately got to work to help families across the Valley sign up for healthcare coverage under the ACA. I worked with local healthcare non-profits and enrollment counselors, in many languages, to make sure families signed up for healthcare coverage. Together, we created the second most successful district, of all 53 districts in California, with the most enrolled individuals and families.

While this was a step in the right direction, I believe there’s still a lot more work that needs to be done. In order to make sure that everyone has access to affordable and quality healthcare, I am constantly introducing bills that will expand Mental Health Services, protect vital programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. I will continue to make sure that organizations like Planned Parenthood get the resources they need to safeguard Women’s health.
