Los Angeles – Tony Cardenas’ campaign for Congress received two major boosts this week with the endorsements of the California Democratic Party (CDP) and SEIU California, the state’s largest union of working Californians.
“I am honored that the delegates of the California Democratic Party and the members of SEIU California have recognized my ability to bring people together to solve problems and to create jobs and opportunities for Valley families,” said Cardenas. “The energy and people power these endorsements bring to this campaign will help us take our message to voters in this new district.”
The open Northeast San Fernando Valley (29th) Congressional District is composed of 56% Democrats, 17% Republicans and represents approximately 69% Latinos.
SEIU and the CDP join a growing list of supporters who have endorsed Cardenas, including Speaker John Perez, Senate pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Congressman Howard Berman.
