TONY CARDENAS EARNS ENDORSEMENT OF LEGISLATIVE LEADERS PÉREZ, STEINBERG
Assembly Speaker and Senate President Pro Tem Recognize Cardenas’ Record of Consensus Building
(Los Angeles) – Consensus-builder Tony Cardenas, received the endorsements of California’s Assembly Speaker John Pérez and Senate President pro Tempore Darrell Steinberg today, boosting his campaign to be the first Latino to represent the San Fernando Valley in Congress.
“Speaker Pérez and pro Tem Steinberg know my record as an Assemblyman who consistently balanced budgets and found common ground with legislators from both parties, and I’m honored by their endorsements,” said Cardenas. “The broad support I’ve received so early in this campaign shows the Valley is ready for a leader who will bring together diverse voices so we can get the economy moving again.”
The open Northeast San Fernando Valley (29th) Congressional District tentatively approved by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission earlier this week is composed of 56% Democrats, 17% Republicans and represents approximately 69% Latinos.
No current Member of Congress resides in this new district. |
